ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Elizabeth Estabrooks, MSW is a Peacetime Cold War Veteran of the United States Army and holds a Bachelor of Science in Gender Studies and Political Science from Eastern Oregon University, and a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University. Elizabeth served as the Oregon Woman Veterans Coordinator with the Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs where she brought decades of knowledge and experience gained from her career working on issues that included: domestic violence, (military) sexual assault, peer support services, community safety, gender- and culturally-responsive services, and adult learning.
She now travels and focuses on writing a blog and three books, speaking, and engaging as a freelance changemaker and consulting as a subject matter expert on women veterans.

Through the sharing of my story and my journey that starts and ends with trauma, I hope other survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault can recognize themselves and their journeys, know that they are not alone, and professionals and family members can gain some additional practical understanding about the impact and reality of retraumatization.
